Starting point for this beautiful trip is Selpritsch, a small place above Velden. Before the Shell gas station we turn, because the cycle track is not finished yet, to Keutschacher Landesstrasse, and go, always easily rising, about Augsdorf in the direction to Schiefling. After Augsdorf there is a short piece of cycle track to Schiefling. Before the place ends we change again on the cycle track which leads us between fields and meadows, through a landscape conservation area (near Techelweg) in a small depression. We go here either on the left, the normal cycle track along, or bend inwards on the right into the Auwald (on the tree mark 28A). After a small wood bridge we come to a road cross where we keep on the left. A small forest leads us to the Hafnersee. Again on the asphalt road, we follow to the marks R4A, up to guesthouse Brückler in Keutschach (pay attention to the 800-year-old lime-tree). Now at the crossing we go on to the right, we will pass the beach resort and come after approx. 700 m back to the cycle track. On the left there is a beautiful marshland. If we have time, an excursion is worthwhile at the place of Keutschach which you will see on the left side of the street.
We go right by the cross to Keutschach and before the place called “holiday houses Perdacher” we turn left. With the road cross we go on the right and immediately again on the left. Before the barrier (forest way) we turn again on the left into the forest. Hidden behind the trees , we see the Bassgeigensee. Straight ahead we come to the Rauschelesee which invites not only to a small rest, but also to jump into the fresh water. After a left turn we go ont the cycle track again to Keutschacher Landesstrasse. In the absence of a cycle track we must use the federal highway.
Its worth to stop In Viktring to make an excursion to the Stift Viktring. We go on on the main street and before we reach the “Total gas station” we go left in the Wedenigstraße. We go further to the next cross at guesthouse Rösch, afterwards we cross the Wörthersee Süduferstrasse and go straight on the cycle track to next traffic light.
After the traffic light we turn on the left into the Schilfweg which leads us to the Lendkanal. On the right we come to a small wood bar which we cross and we reach after 3,5km driving Klagenfurt. If we go straight ahead, we will come after the beach resort to the cycle track R4 which leads on the north shore of the lake to Velden.
Pörtschach/WS to Selpritsch
You go on the cycle track from Pörtschach/WS to Velden/WS till you reach the center of Velden. There you turn left to the Schlosshotel of Velden. After a visit you go approx. 200 m further and turn right at the sports hotel Berger to Selpritsch. Short steep increase to the starting point of your day trip.
